BSO – Beethoven & Friends
Elena Urioste, violin
Lucas Richman, conductor
Haydn: Il Ritorno di Tobia Overture
Schubert: Symphony No. 8, “Unfinished”
Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major, with Elena Urioste, violin
Beethoven and his friends take center stage at the BSO’s November concert. A rarely performed overture by Franz Josef Haydn opens the program, before Schubert’s famous “Unfinished” Symphony. The Schubert was also heard on the BSO’s very first program, in November, 1896. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, brought to life by the exciting young soloist Elena Urioste.
“The soloist, Elena Urioste, played with an enchanting, sweet tone and shapely phrasing. There was an unaffected purity and naturalness to the trills that are sprinkled all over the solo part.”
