Chamber Music Society

The Chamber Music Society makes it their special mission to support and promote an annual classical chamber music series at the Collins Center for the Arts, called the John I. and Elizabeth E. Patches Chamber Music Series. The series offers inspiring music performed by world-class chamber musicians in intimate settings, often in the acoustically superb Minsky Recital Hall at the University of Maine.

The concerts appeal to those who appreciate soloists and smaller ensembles with exceptional artistry and a passion for what they perform. Many performers have earned prestigious prizes and have played on the stages of some of the world’s great chamber venues. Featured musicians represent a broad repertoire, including Baroque, Romantic and Classical works familiar to many listeners, as well as exciting contemporary pieces of some of the world’s leading composers.

The Chamber Music Society’s steering committee helps to plan exciting and varied chamber music experiences that appeal to audiences of all ages. Members of the committee and the Collins Center staff welcome audience and member responses and ideas for programming.
