Masterworks III – Revolutionaries: Mozart / Saint Georges

Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 3 p.m.
Collins Center for the Arts

Lucas Richman, conductor
Wren Saunders, bassoon

Two 18th century composers, both revolutionaries in their own right, created sparkling works that still connect today

What’s Interesting About This Concert

  • For the first time in its history, the BSO performs the music of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who was born into slavery in the French West Indies and navigated France’s colonial “Code Noir” for a swashbuckling life of fencing, music, and revolution
  • The BSO’s own principal bassoonist Wren Saunders takes center stage in Mozart’s beloved Bassoon Concerto
